In Chapter 5 of Surfing the Tsunami by Todd Kelsey, he discusses the second approach to AI. Adopting AI means to integrate oneself in the usage and managing of AI tools and programs. Kelsey also discusses the opposing idea against AI technology. For those who still hold out on accepting it as an inevitability, he likens their choice to how the Amish interact with electricity. Coining the term "AI Amish" Kelsey discusses the similarities between those who accept and integrate themselves with AI and those who reject it.
The main point being made by bringing up the Amish in this chapter is that, yes, it is a possibility where people can completely ignore the evolutionary AI that is beginning to take root in society, however, they must do so with the idea of being behind their peers economically. The faster one can accept and adopt AI the more quickly they can get ahead of the curve and be successful.
This chapter really solidified my personal position with AI because of the way it discusses how Adopting AI can be beneficial. In my experience, I have had nothing but positive encounters with AI and can absolutely not wait to see how far this can go.
